The one thing nutritionists eat at holiday parties

Yesterday, Well & Good posted an article revealing what nutritionists eat at holiday parties.  My “one thing” listed was Scotch. As you can see below, I mention Scotch but there’s also food involved. I thought I’d share my unedited answer, lest you follow the Scotch diet. Generally, I’m running out the door, after my last client, to the party or event. My pre-party taxi snack involves our Foodtrainers’ nutcase (shameless I know but I have one in every purse) filled with anything from All Good Provisions goji trail mix to Himalania dark choc chia seeds. I also sniff peppermint essential oil as a quick pick me up and appetite suppressant. At the party, I’m a one and done drink girl. My winter spirit of choices is Scotch and I have it “neat” as it’s easy to nurse that way. I’m allergic to wheat so party food choices are limited which is totally fine. I try to pick a few items and stick to those. The whole pupu platter approach never ends well. I’ll pick from shrimp cocktail, sashi...

Foodtrainers' hits LA and the rain hits Foodtrainers

lauren posted all about our Expo West Experience , but she left out our “adventure” getting there. Here’s a travel day follow up, because there are always things (monsoons, traffic, room reservations gone missing) that throw off the best laid plans. Foodtrainers' LA picks : Pre-Flight breakfast: As predicted, we omeletted it up with veggies and hot sauce (greens instead of toast), and tons of coffee. lauren whipped out pre-flight probiotic coconut shots and I drank a liter ++ of water (thank god for aisle seats). Mid-flight: We had our nutcases, filled with living organic sprouted pecans, while plotting our Pre-Summer Squeeze Program. get excited. Post-flight lunch: Heaven is Gjelina in Santa Monica. lauren and I could have spent all day there tasting -- and sipping -- but the winners were the tuna conserva over arugula (almost Nicoise but better), and the asparagus with crispy sunny side egg. Bulletproof shop: We were full but had to make a pit stop at the Bulletproof mecca. While...

Thanksgiving, how did you do?

While there’s no scorecard (well there sort of is), how do you feel after the first holiday hurdle of the season? Many of our Foodtrainees checked in with us and for the most part the reports were something to the effect of “I feel much better than in past years” which was music to our ears. As the week progresses we’ll meet with and hear from some clients who overdid it. Either way, evaluate and reset if need be. I write a lot about planning for the holidays  but wanted to show you a little recap, Carolyn and I love a plate pic. Here are some…. Never save up on a holiday eat your regular breakfast and lunch Don't fill up on heavy apps, stick to crudite  Love looking at various plates (actual dinnerware)  How was your thanksgiving? Any family drama? What was your favorite thing you ate? Mine was the turkey...so delicious this year.
